Ben Duncan – Managing Director
(Bachelor of Building / Registered Builder)
Ben has over 12 years’ experience in building including five years as a Director of CJ Duncan. Ben plays a key role in strategic planning and management of the firm’s larger construction projects. His role involves all aspects of project delivery and working closely with clients to successfully achieve their desired project outcomes. Ben has particular expertise in the insurance and remedial sector. He has worked on rebuilding efforts relating to a number of major disasters in New South Wales and Canberra, and is currently involved in servicing the needs of our insurance and loss adjusting clients following the recent Queensland flood disaster. Ben also leads CJ Duncan’s professional development processes running internal seminars on the various aspects of remedial building for CJ Duncan’s staff, clients and colleagues.

Chris Duncan – Founder and Director
(Registered Builder)
Chris Duncan is a Director of CJ Duncan which he founded in 1979. Whilst much of the day to day management of the company has been passed onto his son, Ben, Chris continues to contribute to the overall strategic direction of the business. With over 30 years of building experience, Chris Duncan has a wealth of expertise and a strong track record delivering large scale and complex remedial and construction projects. Chris continues to play a key role in estimating projects and personally managing key clients. Chris has been instrumental in the steady growth of the business over the last three decades.

Josh Black – New Business and Strategy
(Bachelor Science – Architecture)
Josh has over 12 years’ experience in construction and property development, underpinned by a background in architecture. Josh joined the company in 2010 following several years with Lend Lease, Toga Group and Kell and Rigby. Since that time he has played an important role in helping to refine and strengthen the capacity of the business and its relationships with key clients across the four business units: Construction; Fitout; Remedial and strata; and insurance rebuilding.
Josh has a strong commitment to design and considerable expertise in the delivery of large scale and complex residential projects. These include medium and high density precincts in Sydney’s Jackson’s Landing (Pyrmont), Darwin’s waterfront, and inner Melbourne. He has successfully delivered high end commercial and hospitality projects for clients including Hilton Resorts, Hyatt Hotels and Aman Resorts in New Zealand and Fiji. Josh has also undertaken commercial and industrial projects in Shanghai, China for BOC and Maersk.

Ian Richards – Operations Manager
(Registered Builder)
Ian has 30 years of experience in the construction industry and over 10 years of experience in the insurance and remedial building sectors. Ian’s previous experience includes working as a Building Consultant for a major Australian loss adjusting firm, servicing the Newcastle and Mackay Floods and as a Heritage and Remedial building specialist for a national building consultancy firm.
Ian joined CJ Duncan in 2009 as a senior estimator and key client manager. Following substantial success securing 8 school projects under the BER programme Ian was promoted to the role of Operations Manager in 2011. This new role sees Ian taking responsibility for the management of CJ Duncan’s Project Managers and Estimating department.
Most recently, Ian has played an instrumental role in establishing CJ Duncan’s presence in Brisbane following the Queensland flood events.
